Power Point Tennis Program

  • It is a program designed to take Mid-Ohio Valley juniors from the outdoor courts of summer to the indoor courts for year-round play.  Often indoor tennis is thought to be too expensive, but this system will make indoor tennis accessible for all players who are willing to work.  This is a merit system where the sky’s the limit as juniors work to earn POWER POINTS.

  • Complete the online application below to get started.

You may also fill out a paper copy at the City Park.  THIS IS FREE TO JOIN!

  • Each participant will be given an official Skill Card with several tasks to be practiced.  Most of the starting tasks are drills that a player can work on by himself/herself with only a racquet and some balls.  Some can even be practiced at home in the driveway.  When the player decides he/she is ready to sign off on requirements, he/she can go to a “SIGN OFF SUNDAY” at the City Park.

  • They may earn points year round and in a variety of locations (indoor and outdoor) around the Mid-Ohio Valley.  Opportunities include clinics, tournaments, skill days at the City Park, summer tennis lessons, playing on a school team, and volunteer activities.

  • These points will convert into “REAL DOLLARS” to be spent at GRC.  When it becomes too cold for outdoor tennis , our goal is that players will have accumulated enough points to move indoors to GRC.  This indoor play will run from November through March.  Points earned can be used towards clinics*, in their pro shop purchases, or private lessons at GRC.

  • Players will move from station to station.  He/she will demonstrate the required skills that have been mastered.  An adult supervisor will check mark their card as each skill is completed.  Each check mark equals 1 point earned.  When the card is finished, the player will receive a second card, etc. Instruction and help will also be available on these days.  SIGN OFF SUNDAY will run from March to October from 2:00-4:00 PM at the City Park (as long as the weather holds out).

  • She will be tracking all points earned. The points are reported by team coaches, summer tennis instructors, tournament directors, Greenmont employees, and Sign Off Sunday supervisors.  Players and parents will be able to view their balances on the MOVTA website.  There is “NO LIMIT” to the number of Power Points that can be earned.

  • Donations to cover earned Power Points come from business sponsors, local tennis enthusiasts, GRC, and MOVTA.  These points will help pay your way to year-round tennis.

  • The Power Point Tennis Program is a collaborative effort of MOVTA, Summer Rec Programs, GRC, local businesses, and local tennis enthusiasts.

  • MOVTA is offering spring tennis matches for all Middle School tennis players during April and May. (There is no cost to play.) Matches will be held on certain Sunday afternoons from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM at the City Park tennis courts. The plan is for everyone to play a variety of players.
